The Savoy has a certain type of London charm. Walk into the newly renovated Gallery Restaurant, and it’s like you’ve stepped back in time.

Find yourself here at any time of the day, as service runs from breakfast to lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, or even just coffee & cocktails. A mix of contemporary and old-world glamour, the space is dressed in earthy velvet chairs, quirky chandeliers, and towering real palm trees.

If you don’t make a booking, you might be lucky to get one of the four seats at the beautiful marble-clad centrepiece bar, but when I arrived, there wasn’t an empty seat in the house, so booking ahead is highly encouraged.

The ambience is a dreamy mix of soft jazz, clinking glasses, and dapper waiters in their finely pressed waistcoats and bow ties, delivering impeccable service.

Food at The Gallery is everything you’d expect and more, and family-style sharing is encouraged. On offer, delicious plates of sole tacos, tuna tataki, lobster rolls and backwater oysters – add caviar as desired. Traditional dishes such as the club sandwich, Caesar salad or croque-monsieur are some of the best in London and the mocktails are just as delicious as the cocktails (if not better) and if you have a sweet tooth, the chocolate tart is a must.
