Music act LE SSERAFIM has a VR concert tour called ‘LE SSERAFIM VR CONCERT: INVITATION’. Simultaneous screenings of the VR concert began on the 15th April in Japan, South Korea, the US, and Taiwan. We are now starting to see more artists utilizing VR technology so that fans who can’t get to actual live concerts can see their favorite artists in a different way.

The VR concert features a setlist of 10 songs, including the global hit ‘SPAGHETTI (feat. j-hope of BTS)’.

At the VR concert, guests wear a VR headset that is fitted to their seat. The VR experience is said to allow 12K high-definition imagery and high-quality sound provided by the cinema’s 7.1-channel surround sound system. The whole concept behind the VR concerts is to provide fans with an overwhelming intensity that the artists appear to be closer than the front row, and almost within arm’s reach. The recreated virtual space is designed to make you feel as though the performance is being staged just for you.

The concert is the first-ever VR concert by a female artist from HYBE MUSIC GROUP.

‘LE SSERAFIM VR CONCERT: INVITATION’ is produced by AMAZE, a company that has extensive expertise in the production and distribution of VR concerts for numerous global artists, including K-POP acts. AMAZE was founded in 2015 by four founding members of Kakao, and the start-up is headquartered in Los Angeles and operates a subsidiary in Seoul.

Currently, the company is actively distributing ‘VR concert’ experiences featuring global artists, including K-POP acts, through cinemas worldwide and home XR headsets such as Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro. With an Apple Vision Pro, you can watch the ‘AMAZE VR Concerts’ service.

The VR concerts produced by AMAZE do not rely on CG; instead, the actual artists are filmed using specialised techniques designed specifically for VR, allowing their physical proportions and appearance to be reproduced with lifelike realism. By utilizing hyper-realistic 8K live-action footage using proprietary technologies such as Unreal Engine-based VFX modules and AI Super Resolution, the production can deliver a 12K experience.

From what I can ascertain, AMAZE is using Blackmagic cameras to capture the content.
