New ErgoRig II Includes Several Updates. Cine Gear 2026 First Look
ErgoRig was on the floor at Cine Gear 2026 in Los Angeles, showing the second generation of its handheld camera support vest. The ErgoRig II builds on the original design with several hardware improvements driven directly by user feedback from V1 operators, and adds two optional accessories — the CounterForce and the Undersling that extend what the system can do on set.
What the ErgoRig Does
The ErgoRig is a vest-based support system that transfers the full weight of a handheld camera rig from the operator’s spine to the hips. Unlike arm-based systems such as the Easyrig, the ErgoRig does not attach to the camera itself, which means the camera remains free to be properly balanced, a key ergonomic advantage when working with heavier cinema setups for extended periods.
What’s New in Version Two
The major addition to the V2 is a new ratchet belt, which was the most requested feature from existing ErgoRig owners. The original V1 used a clip-based fastening system, but the ratchet mechanism gives operators the kind of precise, repeatable fit familiar from Steadicam vests and other professional support gear. It tightens quickly, holds securely throughout a shoot, and releases easily when needed. The ratchet belt is also available as a standalone upgrade for V1 owners at $275 ($233.75 during the current sale).
The V2 also introduces quick pop latches for on-the-fly adjustments, making it easier to fine-tune the fit between setups without removing the rig entirely.
The ErgoRig II is available in two chest configurations. The Classic positions the front strut on the right side of the chest, while the CenterFit — originally developed for operators with larger builds places it in the center. Both deliver the same weight transfer performance; the choice comes down to personal preference and comfort during operation. Two torso lengths are available, Short and Tall, based on the measurement from the front hip point to the top of the shoulder: under 20 inches (50cm) takes the Short, over 20 inches takes the Tall.
CounterForce
The optional CounterForce ($275 / $233.75 on sale) accessory addresses one of the more common frustrations in handheld work: front-heavy cameras. While a properly balanced camera is always preferable, productions regularly require operators to shoot with long zooms or heavily configured rigs that shift the center of gravity well forward of the body.
The CounterForce uses an elastomer band running from the rear of the camera to a tension-adjusting cleat at the back of the belt. The band creates resistance that counterbalances the forward weight without adding any mass to the camera itself. Critically, the operator retains full pan and tilt control — the system simply reduces the effort required to hold a front-heavy configuration steady. Tension is adjustable on the fly, and when not in use the CounterForce hardware stays attached to the rig, ready to be connected or disconnected in seconds.
Undersling and Low Mode
The Undersling with Riser ($895 / $760.75 on sale) adds low-mode capability to the ErgoRig system. With the camera underslung below the vest’s arm, operators can position it at any height without holding it overhead, an important option when a director calls for a low-angle mid-setup. The system uses the same elastomer band principle as the CounterForce but with a thicker band and delivers the same full weight transfer off the spine. The elastic also helps absorb some of the footstep vibration that typically shows up in walking shots.
The included Riser adds height and functions as a quick release, making it faster to transition between low mode and shoulder mode without fully breaking down the rig.
